Casemate’s President, David Farnsworth and VP Digital Services and Publishing Operations, Curtis Key attended the Delhi Book Fair in January. We were hosted at the Book Fair by our Indian sales representation partners KW Publishers, on whose stand we were based. Many thanks indeed to Kalpana Shukla, KW’s Managing Director for looking after us so well at this event and for introducing us to so many people over the course of our visit to Delhi.
Here are some photos of us at the book fair and also KW’s offices on the famous home of publishing in India, Ansari Road in Daryaganj, New Delhi.
Following the book fair we travelled on to Pune and visited with our technology partners, Versatile PreMedia Services where we met the whole team. David and Versatile’s Managing Director, Rakesh Ramankutty signed a major new contract during the visit, as we work to improve our editorial and production workflow efficiencies for the Casemate and Oxbow publishing programs.
India is a fast-growing book market, with nearly 9,000 publishers serving nearly 1.3 billion people, with an increasing number of imported books, most of which being English-language. Nielsen estimates the sector is now worth $6.76 billion. Led by educational books (72% of all book sales), the sector is expected to grow at an average growth rate of 19.3% per year through to 2020, in direct comparison with expected compound growth of 2% for global book publishing, and is a key market that the Casemate Group will be focusing its sales efforts on in the next few years.
